Recent slate of errors concerning SSL connection
[TITLE]

In recent weeks I`ve seen issues connecting to a domain, related to security issues.

We have performed an update to SSL certificates and we believe all resolved.
An in depth discussion to follow to give more details.
Browsers seem to be forcing the SSL certificate check with domains www.anything.domain.com
If your certificate has a widlcard e.g. *.easydb.uk and you try and access the domain :

For example, www.youthacademy.easydb.uk if setup incorrectly, then the access will fail. the www part is not covered by the SSL certificate with wildcard. We didn`t realise it was a setup issue as we understood to have covered the aspects of setup SSL certificates.

do not tick the "Also request wildcard certificate?" box. Leave it unticked and list all your domains if there are multiple levels.

We also thought having a .htaccess file forcing a redirect for "www" solved any issues with the SSL certificate, but did not realise that the check was forced before the redirect.

Having updated the list of domains to full domain names with no wildcard, we now find that all the connection issues have been resolved.
